Although esthetics is all about the philosophy of beauty, Ms. Lorea’s students learn that beauty is more than skin deep. There are of course the practical aspects of learning to become a qualified esthetician or nail technician, but behind the practice of facilitating health and beauty of the body’s surface is an intensive process of studying the body’s histology, anatomy and physiology. Ms Lorea’s College believes it is important to have a strong foundation of knowledge about the body to understand how various products and treatments can affect it.
The increasing concern about skin care, image consulting, stress, and fatigue has created an ongoing and ever-growing market for esthetic services thereby providing employment and business opportunities for successful graduates.
We welcome the opportunity to discuss the program, review your career options as well as show you our beautiful college.
ABOUT THE SCHOOL
We have a progressive curriculum that is continually updated in order for our students to be on the leading edge of the industry. We are the only college in northern British Columbia to offer such a comprehensive program.
In fact, for the first time in its history, The Cosmetologists Association of BC has awarded all four of its annual recognition medals to one single school. The awards cite Ms. Lorea’s College for
- Outstanding Practical
- Outstanding Theory
- Outstanding number of students passing provincial exams and
- Highest level of excellence
The recognition is the result of sound business practices, a cutting edge curriculum, and talented instructors and of course, outstanding students.
We guarantee you will receive our personal attention to any challenges or special needs you may require.
There is no need for students to add the high cost of living in the lower mainland to the already arduous task of acquiring an education. Students come from all over the province to study here. The lower cost of living is certainly a drawing card, but even more so is the family atmosphere and caring environment that creates a very positive learning experience.
-President and Founder
Ms Lorea grew up on a farm in Alberta. She is 80 years young this year, and anyone who has had the opportunity to speak with her quickly discovers she is an intelligent, independent, strong willed, courageous, hardworking and kind hearted woman. Truly a role model for all women of all ages.
At 58, when most people are planning retirement, Ms. Lorea decided not to retire, but instead, opened a school, proving that age is not a barrier and does not set any limitations to success.
Ms Lorea began her career in Esthetics in France and Italy where her family was stationed in the Canadian Armed Forces. She returned to Prince George in 1969. She worked as a realtor and a travel agent then opened her first nail salon, Lorea’s Nail Boutique. It was at this point that Ms. Lorea realized that people in the North were at a disadvantage. The cost, cultural shock and distance from home made learning skills for employment extremely difficult, if not impossible for some. This realization inspired her to open a school in Prince George to help students get their education without leaving home, or having to go to the lower mainland.
It is Ms. Lorea’s inspiration, genuine caring and drive that have made Ms. Lorea’s College of Esthetics and Nail Technology one of the most respected esthetic and nail technology schools in BC.
